As we begin 2026, many homeowners across Northwest Iowa are thinking about what the year ahead might look like — whether that means selling, downsizing, upsizing, or simply understanding where they stand in today’s real estate market. In this January 2026 newsletter, Team Bircher shares local market insights, current listings and recent sales, and highlights from our continued support of the Siouxland Humane Society.

Our goal is always to provide clear, local information so you can feel informed, confident, and prepared when making real estate decisions — no matter what this year brings.

Thinking About Selling in 2026?

While spring often gets the spotlight, some of the strongest results come from having the right information early. Every home, neighborhood, and situation is different, which is why we focus on understanding the property itself — not just the numbers.

When someone is considering selling, the first step is a detailed market analysis. This includes reviewing recent comparable sales, walking through the home, and discussing what matters most to the homeowner. This process helps determine the right pricing, timing, and strategy so sellers can move forward with clarity and confidence.

Throughout this newsletter, we’re sharing insights into the Northwest Iowa real estate market, highlighting recent Team Bircher activity, and featuring a few four-legged friends still looking for a place to call home.

Featured Pets from the Siouxland Humane Society

Each month, Team Bircher is proud to support the Siouxland Humane Society by helping share the stories of adoptable pets in our community. This January, we’re honored to introduce Monello and Marina — two very special animals who have been patiently waiting for their forever homes.

Marina is a 14-year-old senior cat who has also been at the shelter since October. She is spayed and has special medical needs, including diabetes that requires insulin twice daily with meals, given consistently at the same time each day. When Marina arrived, her condition had not been properly managed, which caused her to lose some fur — now growing back with proper care. She is calm, laid back, enjoys gentle affection, and would love a quiet home where she can simply keep someone company.

Monello is a young pitbull (approximately 1–2 years old) who arrived at the shelter in October with her puppies. While all of her puppies have since been adopted, Monello is still waiting for her forever home. She loves treats, playing fetch, and being close to her people. Often described as a “shadow dog,” she follows her humans from room to room and has a bit of a diva personality that makes her extra charming. Monello thrives with structure and purpose and may need help learning household manners. She would do best in a home without cats, and careful dog introductions are recommended if another dog is present.

Both Monello and Marina are wonderful reminders that some of the most deserving pets are the ones who wait the longest. If you or someone you know may be a good fit, we encourage you to reach out to the Siouxland Humane Society to learn more about adoption.
